We've finally got a launch date for Portland's long-awaited bike share system. Biketown launches July 19. Here's a bunch of info about station locations and pricing.
Check out the O's interesting piece about a $100 million, 1,400 person shelter/transitional housing space that developers Dike Dame and Homer Williams have been pitching around town. They want to put the thing at the Port of Portland's old Terminal 1, which is owned by the city these days, and they seem to think it'd work just fine to put 700 homeless people in a big old room.

One day after news hit of the worst mass shooting in modern times, the gut-churning stories from survivors of the attack began to emerge.
Here's video of that powerful @andersoncooper segment. He fights tears as he tells stories of the Orlando victims https://t.co/2N1upxx3ZL

And there are, of course, deeper pictures emerging of the shooter, though they're all conflicted: was his attack born of religious extremism, bigotry, mental illness, or some combination? And was the shooter gay himself, as some people who crossed paths with him seem to believe? There are also new details about why the FBI looked into him for possible terrorist ties. Twice.
And just in case you need another reminder of how humiliating and awful gun violence is in the US compared to other "advanced countries."
Our worst bridge is also one of our most versatile, so the Morrison was resplendent in rainbow garb last night, in solidarity with Orlando and the LGBTQ community.
Speaking of bridges, those rascally sailors have done it again—with an assist from Multnomah County! Hey, county, how bout you never let Fleet Week ships waltz out of town during rush hour ever again? Monday's commute morning was insanity.
Either the Portland Police Bureau deals with creeps harassing kids literally all the time and has only just started putting out news releases about it (not unlikely) or there's been a rash of creepy folks lately. Either way, this guy who was (allegedly) posing as a cop and trying to pull over young girls in his Lincoln Towncar is solidly ensconced in those ranks. Props to the bystander who got him busted.
In the hospital: Lil Wayne, after a bunch of weirdness where his people emergency landed his private plane in Omaha. Twice.
JUNUARY. Today at least.
